Theatre Museum’s Research Room and Collection Services Closed June 9 – October 3

The Theatre Museum’s research room and collection services will close on June 9 and reopen on October 3. During the closure, the museum will focus on organizing archives and collections and preparing the first set of collection materials for publication in the Finna service.

During this period, the research room will be closed, we will not respond to object or image inquiries, and we will not accept collection donations. Previously agreed inquiries related to collections will be handled as planned.

Due to the significant rise in costs in recent years and cuts in state funding, we will operate with a smaller staff in 2025. The Theatre Museum’s subsidy was reduced by 0.7 person-years, and the tightened financial situation will affect both collection work and audience services, occasionally resulting in reduced opening hours.

Developing digital services is a key priority for the museum during the strategic period extending to 2027, and Finna plays an essential role in this work. Our goal is to ensure better nationwide accessibility to collections and to make the cultural heritage of performing arts available to everyone interested.
