Information Service

Theatre professionals, researchers, students, and others interested in performing arts can explore Theatre Museum’s archival and object collections as well as the reference library in the research room, where it is also possible to listen to audio recordings and view video materials. Visitors can search the collection database independently, but guidance is available if needed. Extensive research is carried out as a paid information service (see price list). A small selection of the Theatre Museum’s photographs is available for viewing and use via the Finna.fi service.

Visits must be arranged in advance.

Photo Service

The Theatre Museum’s archive holds extensive photo collections related to performing arts, including production, role, and portrait photographs. All customers can view the archive’s photos in the research room. The photo service operates by appointment, with customers visiting the research room to explore the photo collections.

Digital photo copies can be ordered by agreement (see price list). Delivery time is usually seven days. Users must provide Theatre Museum’s library with one copy of any product in which archive photos are used. After use, image files must be deleted.

Image rights and copyright

Theatre Museum does not automatically own usage rights to all images in its collections; rights are checked individually when processing an order. More recent photographs are subject to a protection period, meaning permission for use must be obtained from the photographer. In such cases, the client also agrees on any usage fees directly with the photographer.

The user is responsible for respecting copyright and privacy protection (see Copyright Act). When publishing, Theatre Museum’s archive and the photographer’s name must be credited.
