The Theatre Museum’s Culture Kids adventures in the world of the circus continue from August to November. Registration is now open!

A performance by a travelling circus is about to begin, but the ringmaster Mouse has disappeared. They became immersed in the stories of an old circus book and got stuck in its world. Now we need cooperation between children and adults, discoveries, and joyful playfulness to bring Mouse back. Shall we figure out together the magic code that opens the book?

In the workshop, participants dive into the atmosphere of circus through play, imagination, and fun theatre exercises. During the workshop, the group forms its own circus family, tries museum-safe circus equipment, and gets to perform together. The exercises are suitable for everyone and adapted to the group.

Key values of circus include community, everyone’s uniqueness, and the permission to fail – the best tricks are born through experimentation! The workshop takes place in the Theatre Museum’s Maneesi, and participants also get a peek into the exhibition Amaze! Tales and Magic of Circus.

The Theatre Museum, together with five other cultural organisations, serves as a culture sponsor for children born in Helsinki in 2022. The Culture Kids programme is administered by the City of Helsinki. The first workshops of the autumn season have been published in the Culture Kids service, and registration is done through the same platform.

Every child born in 2020 or later and living in Helsinki has their own Culture Sponsor. The Culture Sponsor invites the child to at least two events per year. The events are designed to suit the child’s developmental stage and support the wellbeing of the whole family. If the child lives in Helsinki and was born in 2020 or later, they can be registered as a Culture Kid at kummilapset.hel.fi. The events are free of charge for families.

The Culture Kids service is administered by the Culture and Leisure Division of the City of Helsinki and supported by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.
